I hand dye silk scarves and other textiles using Shibori techniques. Shibori is a Japanese term for shaped resist dyeing. I use various Shibori techniques including: Nui (stitch), Arashi (pole wrapping), and Itajime (clamp) Shibori.

I make functional fiber art. Beautiful handpun yarns, knit and crochet items such as scarves, hats, handbags, wraps and shawls as well as bath items such as felted soaps and cotton bath puffs. I love beautiful things, but I am also an extremely practical person. I enjoy coming up with ways of taking functional objects and turning them into works of art. That’s why I refer to my work as Functional Fiber Art. These are, for the most part, beautiful works of art, but they also are able to have a purpose.
